Avoid temptation
Staying motivated is easier if you keep temptation at bay by not buying and bringing into your home any junk food items, like crisps, cakes, biscuits or sweets. If others in your household demand these items then ask them to buy and consume them outside the home.
Set realistic goals
So many dangerous and unhealthy crash-style diets make unrealistic promises as to how much weight loss you can expect to lose within a certain time. But with any well balanced and healthy weight loss diet, you should only realistically aim to lose about 2 pounds a week - if that.
And although this may not sound like a lot, especially if you have lots of weight to lose, you're more likely to achieve permanent weight loss if you do it slowly and steadily and keep the motivation to lose weight.
Reward yourself
Either weekly or monthly give yourself some form of reward for sticking with your weight loss diet and shedding excess weight. By rewarding yourself it will strengthen your resolve to achieve your healthy shape and weight.
Women could treat themselves to a new handbag or spa treatment. Men could too! But they might prefer something else -- all non-fattening treats allowed!
Don't be tough on yourself
If you don't reach your goal weight or measurements each week, don't be too tough on yourself or get despondent.
If you aren't losing as much weight as you would like it's possible you've just reached a plateau. Keep at it and the weight will shift.
Resistance
The key to staying motivated, resisting unhealthy foods and to a successful diet, is staving off the hunger pangs. The hungrier you feel, the more likely your willpower will weaken. Hunger pangs are diet breakers.
The traditional low fat, low calorie counting diets inevitably do not stave off hunger pangs. So look towards fulfilling and satisfying diets that include plenty of protein and healthy fats that keep you far more satisfied than low fat diets.
Find the exercise you love
Find some form of physical exercise that you love.
If you love dancing then dance, if you love swimming, swim. If you love walking, walk. Brisk walking, swimming, running, dancing or any combinations of exercise that makes you slightly breathless, is perfect to help you lose weight.
So choose something you'll enjoy rather than endure. Remember any form of exercise can help with weight loss. Plus the fitter you become the better you will feel, which helps in staying motivated long enough to lose all the weight you need to.
Good Luck!
